The questions I receive are like ‘gold dust’ they help me understand your beauty needs and give me a glimpse into what you look for in SCOUT products and might want in a new addition to the range.

So the SCOUT gang have decided that each month we will select the 3 most asked questions and share them with you. 

Now all you need to do is please keep them coming.

Let’s talk about what prompts someone to call, send an email or Facebook message me about their specific skincare, makeup or nail question?

They often begin with ‘it has taken me a while to get the courage to speak to you’. 

I love that honesty and appreciate the pain of living with a skin issue can really impact a persons life on a daily basis.

Sometimes you just end up going around and around trying to find the product that is going to solve it. 

Question 1  

I have redness associated with rosacea can your skincare help? 

This is a tricky one because Rosacea is a complex problem and it is good that most people with the condition are seeing a Dermatologist. 

However, many of our customers have had great results with our Vitamin C Brightening Serum and our Skin Perfecting Radiance Gel. 

Just a tiny amount of either will help control the redness and due to the anti-inflammatory ingredients find it calms and keeps the area moisturised. 

I usually recommend starting with one or both of the serums. Let’s say you start with the Vitamin C Brightening Serum, I recommend that you start slow as the products are active. Building up to 2 drops morning and night and then at night introducing the Skin Perfecting Radiance Gel and using it as a Sleep mask. 

Again starting slowly – 1 pump and building up over the course of 2 weeks to 2 pumps.

Question 2

My teenage daughter/son has a blemished complexion. What do you recommend for a beginner pack?

This is easy as I have 3 sons myself and started them on a simple skincare routine at around the age of 14.  

The Superfruit Exfoliating Wash Off Cleanser is my go-to for this as it is rich in natural Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA’s), which work to exfoliate the surface of the skin without harsh stripping or over-cleansing. 

It is simple, gentle, effective and smells divine.  They can use it in the shower and it even doubles as a shaving gel. 

Starting them off cleansing their skin is optimal and once they have this under control they will be more receptive to adding another product. 

The next product I usually recommend is the Vitamin C Brightening Serum.

This can double as a moisturiser and will help to keep the blemishes under control. Remember, only a couple of drops are needed to get the desired result.

Lastly, if more nourishment is required and if the teenager is happy to include a third item in their routine, the Balance & Replenish Light Moisturiser can be added.

Question 3

I have just had my gel nails taken off and my nails are super thin, flaky and fragile. 

Some have even torn off at the edges.  I’ve read reviews about your Dual Base & Top Coat with the Celery Seed extract for nail hardening. Will this help?

Yes Yes Yes, the Clear Dual Base & Top coat with the natural nail hardener Celery Seed extract is fantastic for this.

Apply 2 coats once a week and I am certain you will notice a difference in 4 weeks. 

Remember not to use an Acetone or Acetate based remover though as this will strip your nails and keep them dry. While a water based remover takes a little more effort, it is worth it for better nail health.

I also recommend using a good quality oil massaged into the cuticles just before bed.
